For E&I facilities, use a process to turn bulk inventory into different bulk inventory in operations such as

  • Mixing two different bulk batches together

  • Dividing inventory from one lot into several lots

  • Transforming inventory from a lot (e.g., grinding)

You specify what happens as a result of a type of process by first creating a processing type. When you complete a process, you specify the number of output lots and the quantity in each lot. The new lots are added and assigned the specified product masters.

In this article:

Prerequisites

Before you can complete this procedure, you must have the following prerequisites set up:

  • The appropriate processing type

  • Inventory of the unprocessed product(s)

  • A product master for the processed inventory

    • The product's subcategory needs to be one of the output categories for this processing type.

    • The We produce this item checkbox needs to be selected.

    • The Pre-Pack Item checkbox needs to be cleared.

Starting a Process

  1. Open the App Drawer, expand the Inventory menu and click the stage your inventory is in.

  2. Click the production run of each inventory item you want to process. This expands their rows to display their package IDs.

  3. Select the checkboxes for the packages you want to process and click Start Processing.

    • You can also add batches to the process once you're on the Start Processing page by clicking into the Search Product field and scanning package barcodes.

    • You can only select packages whose unit of measure is weight-based.

  4. Specify the weight of inventory from each package to use in the process.

  5. Select the processing type. This determines what can be created as output and what equipment can be used. For instance, you might have created a processing type called "Grinding" that accepts any raw flower product inventory as input and allows the inventory to go into any product of the subcategory "flower grind" as output.

  6. Fill in the rest of the required fields marked with asterisks and click Save. This starts the process, which will be displayed on the Active Processing page.

Completing a Process

Complete this procedure when the processing job is finished.

Note: When completing a process, check the regulations in your jurisdiction to ensure that the weight of each lot you create does not exceed the maximum allowed. See Completing a Process below for more information.

  1. Open the App Drawer and click Active Processing.

  2. Select the active process, then click Complete Processing.

  3. In the Extraction Time section, enter the actual completion time of the process if it differs from the expected completion time.

  4. In the New Items section, enter the required information about each item created from the process.

    • To output more than one item, click the Add Item button (+). This is especially useful if the output quantity exceeds the weight allowed for one lot in your jurisdiction; you can divide the output among multiple lots.

    • If the product master you are looking for is not displayed in the list, check that its subcategory is one of the allowed output subcategories of the processing type.

    • If you are producing more than one item and you don't fill in any of the Production Run/Lot Name fields, the system will autogenerate lot names with sequential values. Alternatively, enter your own number into each Production Run/Lot Name field. Do not reuse a production run/lot name that has been previously used on an earlier processing job.

  5. Optionally, in the Actual Ingredients Used section, enter the quantity used for each ingredient involved (if any) along with any waste.

  6. Click Save or Save and Print. Each item created from the process will be displayed on the Inventory page on the tab corresponding to the phase you specified in the New Phase field and you can print the new inventory labels.
