A statement is a special block of text that you can set to automatically appear on a label depending on the category of the product.
There are three types of statements:
Health and Benefits Statement: Appears when you use the
health
data key.
Non-Organic Pesticides/Herbicides/Fungicides Statement: Appears when you use the
ides
data key.
Mandated Statement: Appears when you use the
mandated
data key.
Use the statements manager to create statements. After creating them, you can add one of the statement type's data keys to a custom label definition to include it on the printout. See How to Create and Edit a Custom Label Definition for more information.
In this article:
Setting up Statements
Open the App Drawer, expand the Facility Settings menu and click Labels Manager.
In the Statements section, click the manage your label statements link.
Set the statement scope:
If the statement will be global, ensure nothing is selected in the Select Categories pane and the Select Sub Categories pane. The Global Statements pane should be green.
If the statement will be category-scoped, select each category in the Select Categories pane that the statement applies to, but do not select any subcategories from the Select Sub Categories pane. The Select Categories pane should be green.
If the statement will be subcategory-scoped, select each category in the Select Categories pane that contain the applicable subcategories, and then select the subcategories from the Select Sub Categories pane that the statement applies to. The Select Sub Categories pane should be green.
Enter the statement in the field for the applicable statement type (health and benefits, mandated, and/or pesticide). If a statement of the same type and scope already exists, it will be displayed in the field.
If you want to mark an existing statement for removal upon saving, click the X button above the field.
Click Save Statements. To continue setting up statements, repeat from step 2.
Statement Scopes
A statement can apply to a group of products based on their category and subcategory, or it can be a statement applying to all categories that don't have a specific statement. When a product label includes a data key for one of the statement types (health and benefits, mandated, or pesticide), it will use the statement with the most specific scope available for the product. The statement scopes are as follows:
Global scope: A statement of this scope applies to all categories/subcategories except those that contain a statement of the same type (health and benefits, mandated, or pesticide) of a more specific scope listed below.
Category scope: A statement of this scope applies to specified categories. If a global statement of the same type (health and benefits, mandated, or pesticide) also exists, the category-scoped statement overrides it for products in the specified categories.
Subcategory scope: A statement of this scope applies specified subcategories. If a global statement of the same type (health and benefits, mandated, or pesticide) also exists, or if a category-scoped statement of the same type and for the same category also exists, the subcategory-scoped statement overrides it for products in the specified subcategories.
Scope example
Suppose a facility has health and benefits statements set up like this:
In this case:
Products in the Gummies subcategory will use the subcategory-scoped health and benefits statement.
Products in the Baked Goods subcategory will use the category-scoped statement.
Products in any Flower subcategory will use the category-scoped statement.
Products in any Concentrates subcategory will use the global-scoped statement.
