Scanning patient and caregiver cards is the first step to getting them checked in. MJ Platform connects with the Pennsylvania registry to validate and sync important information.

Issues With Check-in

If you experience issues after following a check-in procedure, see MJ Platform - Pennsylvania - Handling Check-In Issues and Special Cases.

Patients

Check in a returning patient

  1. Open the App Drawer and click Check-In.

  2. From the License Type drop-down menu, select Patient.

  3. Click Scan License, then scan the patient's medical marijuana ID card.

    • If nothing happens after scanning, press Enter on the keyboard.

  4. Click Search. This displays all patients whose information matches your search criteria.

    • If no results were found, check for typos and try again.

  5. Scroll to the patient's entry in the search results and click Check-In to open the Check-In window.

    • If the Check-In button is not displayed for the patient, then they are already checked in.

  6. From the pop-up window, select the preferred bud tender and visit reason.

Check in a returning patient with a new card

  1. Open the App Drawer and click Check-In.

  2. From the License Type drop-down menu, select Patient.

  3. Click Scan License, then scan the patient's medical marijuana ID card.

    • If nothing happens after scanning, press Enter on the keyboard.

  4. Click Search. The Update Patient Profile prompt appears.

  5. Click Update Patient Profile to update the patient's profile, then try to check them in again.

  6. If the patient still cannot be checked in, open the patient's profile and click Sync Patient Profile with State Registry, save, then check them in.

Register a new patient

  1. Open the App Drawer and click Check-In.

  2. From the License Type drop-down menu, select Patient.

  3. Click Scan License, then scan the patient's medical marijuana ID card.

    • If nothing happens after scanning, press Enter on the keyboard.

  4. Enter the patient's date of birth into the Date of Birth field.

  5. Click Search. The Register Patient prompt appears.

  6. Click Register Patient. This takes you to the Create Patient page with some fields automatically populated based on the scanned medical marijuana ID card.

  7. Some fields cannot auto-populate. Manually enter information into the new patient profile as follows:

    1. Select the Patient Gender.

    2. Set the Status to Active.
      The rest of the required information should be automatically filled in.

  8. Expand the Additional Medical Marijuana Patient Information section and input the appropriate information.

    • Be sure to select the patient's SMC (serious medical condition) from the Qualifying Condition drop-down menu, and select the Physician.

  9. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

Caregivers

Check in a returning caregiver

  1. Open the App Drawer and click Check-In.

  2. From the License Type drop-down menu, select Caregiver.

  3. Click Scan License, then scan the caregiver's medical marijuana ID card.

    • If nothing happens after scanning, press Enter on the keyboard.

  4. Click Search. A list patients appears.

  5. Click the patient the caregiver is purchasing for, then click Check In.

Check in a caregiver with a new patient

  1. Open the App Drawer and click Check-In.

  2. From the License Type drop-down menu, select Caregiver.

  3. Click Scan License, then scan the caregiver's medical marijuana ID card.

    • If nothing happens after scanning, press Enter on the keyboard.

  4. Click Search. A list of patients appears.

  5. Select the patient the caregiver is purchasing for to create their profile.

    • Note: Due to regulations, if the patient already has three caregivers, you can't add more.

  6. Select the Patient Gender.

  7. Set the Status to Active.
    The rest of the required information should be automatically filled in.

  8. Click Save.

  9. Start the check-in procedure again now that the profile is set up.

Check in a caregiver who has not yet purchased for a returning patient

  1. Open the App Drawer, expand the People menu and click Patient List.

  2. Click the patient in the list, then click Modify Patient.

    • You can filter the list by entering the patient's name in the Search bar.

    PLEASE NOTE: The Scan Caregiver ID button is currently not functional. Please enter the information manually using the Registry ID and MMID from the Check-In page, skip to Step 6.

  3. On the patient profile, click Scan Caregiver ID to open the Scan window.

  4. Scan the caregiver's MMID card. The appropriate fields are populated with the caregiver's information.

    • If nothing happens after scanning, press Enter on the keyboard.

  5. Scroll to the Caregiver Information section and verify that updated information was entered. If it wasn't, enter the information manually. The following fields are required to be accurate:

    • First Name

    • Last Name

    • Date of Birth

    • State Caregiver ID

    • Medical Marijuana ID

  6. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

  7. Check in the caregiver according to Check in a returning caregiver above.

Check in a caregiver with a new card

  1. Open the App Drawer and click Check-In.

  2. From the License Type drop-down menu, select Caregiver.

  3. Click Scan License, then scan the caregiver's medical marijuana ID card.

    • If nothing happens after scanning, press Enter on the keyboard.

  4. Click Search. A list of patients appears.

  5. Select the patient the caregiver is purchasing for, then click Check In. The Update Patient Profile prompt appears.

  6. Click Update Patient Profile to go to the profile and input the new information.

  7. Click Scan Caregiver ID at the top-right of the page, then scan the caregiver's ID.

    • If nothing happens after scanning, press Enter on the keyboard.

  8. Click Save.

  9. Start the check-in procedure again now that the profile is set up.
