When a patient or caregiver renews their MMID card, it is important to properly update their profile. If a profile is not up to date, there will be validation errors at check-in.

Usually it is the following message: Patient doesn't have Medical ID or Medical ID is expired.

It is best practice to ask whether the patient or caregiver has received a renewal card since their last visit to your location, even if their profile was updated at another location in your organization. Follow the steps below to properly update their profile if this is the case.

Patient Has Renewed Their MMID Card

If the patient does not have a caregiver, follow this procedure to update their profile, otherwise follow the last procedure in this article.

  1. Retrieve the new Medical Marijuana ID card from the patient.

  2. Open the App Drawer and click Check-In.

  3. Click Scan License and scan in the new MMID card.

  4. Fill out the License Type and Date of Birth fields manually.

  5. When the Set Expiration Date popup appears, enter the new expiration date and click Save With Expiration Date. This will update the patient's profile.

Caregiver Has Renewed Their MMID Card

Follow this procedure to update a caregiver's profile. You must repeat this procedure for each patient to which the caregiver is associated.

  1. Retrieve the new Medical Marijuana ID card from the caregiver.

  2. Open the App Drawer and click Check-In.

  3. Click Scan License and scan in the new MMID card to autofill the Registry ID and Card Number fields.

  4. Copy both the Registry ID and Card Number to a text editor such as Notepad.

  5. Open the App Drawer, expand the People menu and click Patient List.

  6. Select the patient from the list and click Modify above the list.

  7. Under Caregiver Information, paste the new card number into the Medical Marijuana ID field.

  8. Enter the new Registry ID into the State Caregiver Id field.

  9. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

  10. Repeat this procedure for each patient profile that this caregiver is associated with.

Caregiver's Patient Has Renewed Their MMID Card

If a caregiver’s patient has renewed their Medical Marijuana card, but the caregiver arrives before the patient has updated their card with their dispensary, follow this procedure.

  1. Caregiver must contact the patient and retrieve the new Medical Marijuana ID and expiration date.

  2. Open the App Drawer, expand the People menu and click Patient List.

  3. Select the patient from the list and click Modify above the list.

  4. In the Documents section, manually enter the new MMID into the Medical Marijuana ID field.

  5. Manually enter the new Expiration Date into the Medical Marijuana Id Expiration Date field.

  6. Click Save at the bottom of the page.
