An inventory package is any package in MJ Platform that contains tracked inventory (excluding plants and harvest batches in cultivation facilities).
A package is active if its inventory level is greater than zero.
In this article:
Overview
You can see an overview of the properties of an active inventory package by finding it on the Inventory page. To get to the Inventory page, Open the App Drawer and click Inventory. Then, if you're in an E&I facility, click the appropriate tab to view the correct phase (for example, pre-run).
Finding Packages
You can use the search bar to search for any information about a package to filter the list. For example, you can scan or paste in a package code.
To search for all items in a specific location, go to the Location Setup page on the Advanced Settings page, then click Print next to the location to get its unique ID. You can then paste the ID into the search bar.
When you see the production run/lot you want, click to expand it and reveal the package IDs. Then click the package ID you want.
Columns on the Batch Listing
Click the Column Visibility button at the top-right of the list to choose which columns to display.
Column | Description |
Production Run/Batch | The batch number (or production run number). |
Product | The product master that the inventory in the batch is assigned to. |
Quantity | The total amount of inventory in the batch. If reservations are enabled for the facility, the number in parentheses indicates how much out of the total quantity is reserved. For example, 2 (1) means there are a total of 2 packages, and 1 of the 2 packages is reserved. See "Reserved" below. |
Uom | The unit of measure according to the product master. EA means unit-based; GR means weight-based. This cannot be changed. |
Stor. Loc. | The storage location of the package(s) in the batch.
If there are multiple packages in the batch in different storage locations, it will display "Multiple". For information on package-specific locations, see below. |
Date Created | The date the package in the batch was created.
If there are multiple packages in the batch with different creation dates, it will display "Multiple". For information on package-specific creation dates, see below. |
Vendor | The partner that the inventory came from, if any. |
Lineage | A button that allows you to view the packages that make up the batch, sorted by vendor facility. |
Reserved | Applicable if reservations are enabled for the facility.
Whether a package in the batch is unavailable for being included in new operations, such as being added to a customer's cart. A package is automatically put on reserve when it is added to a customer's cart.
If there are multiple packages in the batch with different reserved statuses, it will display "Multiple". You can see the amount on reserve under Quantity. For information on package-specific reservations, see below. |
On Hold | Whether the package in the batch cannot be used for a Sales Order.
If there are multiple packages in the batch with different on hold statuses, it will display "Multiple". For information on package-specific holds, see below. |
Purposes | The selected purpose of the package in the batch.
If there are multiple packages in the batch with different purposes, it will display "Multiple". For information on package-specific purposes, see below. |
General Inventory Controls
These buttons are above the inventory listing. The buttons that are displayed and their color depends on the module and jurisdiction you are operating in. Some buttons are disabled until you select the checkbox for a package.
This is an example of the controls in an E&I facility.
Click a button to open a page or modal. Some buttons will not be displayed if you do not have the required permission.
Button | Description | Module |
Add Test Results | Opens the Add Test Results page, where you can input relevant test results for a package. | Cultivation |
Modify Lot / | Opens the Modify Packages page, where you can edit the properties of the selected package(s). See Package Properties below. | All |
Release All Reservations | Applicable if reservations are enabled for the facility.
Removes all reservations on all packages. This makes all inventory of all packages available to be included in any new applicable operation, such as being added to a customer's cart.
If the package was already included in an in-progress operation, the operation might not be able to be completed if new operations use up the inventory. | All |
Split Package | Opens the Split Package page where you can move some inventory from the current package into a new package or into several new packages. | All |
Start Infusion | Opens the Start Infusion page, where you can start an infusion (assembly) on the selected packages. | E&I |
Start Processing | Opens the Start Processing page, where you can start a process (assembly) on the selected packages. | E&I |
Individual Package Controls and Properties
After expanding the row of a production run/batch, a list of its packages is displayed. Click one of the packages to view its properties and controls.
Package Controls
Depending on your facility type, you'll see different controls available for the package when you click it.
Label andButton | Description |
Modify Lot
Modify | Opens the Modify Packages page, where you can edit the properties of the selected package(s). See Package Properties below. |
Test Results
Show Results | This button is displayed if there is at least one test result for the package.
Opens a modal displaying all test results for the package. You can also modify a test result from here. |
Packaging
Start / Complete | This is displayed if the package is tracked as bulk (weight-based) inventory. Use it to start and then complete a packaging job to convert some of the inventory into prepacks. |
Reservations History | Applicable if reservations are enabled for the facility.
Opens a modal displaying all reservations on the different quantities of inventory in the package, and which operations (such as being in a customer's cart) caused the reservation.
You can release individual reservations, which will make that quantity of inventory available to be included in any new applicable operation, such as being added to a customer's cart.
Be aware that the operation that had reserved the inventory might not be able to be completed if new operations use up the inventory. |
Amount/
Available/
Destination/
Save | Use these controls to "quick move" some inventory from this package to another location.
(If you want to move the entire package, modify the package instead.)
Enter the Amount to move, making sure it is less than the amount Available, select the Destination location, then click Save.
The package is then split, meaning inventory is removed from the current package and put into a newly created package. The new package will appear on the Inventory page under the same lot as the source package. It will have the same package ID, but with the specified amount of inventory taken from the source package and will be in the specified location. |
Label | |
History | Opens the History page for the package, which displays a list of actions that affected the package. The Location Level tab lists actions taken on the package but merges any actions taken on split packages in the same location into one. The Package Level tab displays all actions. |
Package Properties
Package properties determine how a package can be used.
You can change some of these properties by selecting the checkbox for the package and clicking Modify at the top of the inventory listing.
Property | Description |
Package ID | The unique identifier for the package, unless it was split during a quick move (see Package Controls above). |
Tracking ID | This field is displayed if your state integration requires a tracking ID (such as a METRC or BioTrack tag). |
Quality Rating | The user-specified quality rating, if any. |
Test Results | A list of test results from lab tests performed on the package. |
Quantity | Either the number of units (EA) or grams (GR) of the package's inventory in the facility at the package's location. If reservations are enabled for the facility, the number in parentheses indicates how much out of the total quantity is reserved. For example, 2 (1) means there are a total of 2 packages, and 1 of the 2 packages is reserved. See "Reserved" below. |
UOM | Whether the package is unit-based (EA) or weight-based (GR). |
Product/Item | The product master that the inventory of the package is assigned to.
On the Modify Packages page, you can change this assignment by clicking Edit next to the Item field. A modal appears to let you choose a different product master, but only ones with the same unit of measure as the current product master (EA or GR) will be available to select. |
Packaged Date and Time | The user-specified date and time the inventory was packaged. |
Created Date | The user-specified date the package was created. |
Expiration Date | The user-specified date the inventory in the package expires. |

Location /
Stor. Loc. | The current storage location the package is in. |
On Hold | If a package is on hold then it cannot be selected in a Sales Order. This is set to No unless manually set to Yes while modifying the package.
Use this setting to set or release a hold on the package. |
Test Package | Whether the package is marked as a sample package to be sent to a lab. |
Production Batch | |
Trade Sample | |
Reserved | Applicable if reservations are enabled for the facility.
If some of the inventory in a package is reserved then that amount is subtracted from the amount available to be used for any new operation, such as being added to a customer's cart. You can see the amount reserved under Quantity. |
