The Analytics pages on MJ Platform help you track and visualize your data, such as inventory count, items sold, and so on. They are preset dashboards embedded from our dashboard provider.

If you have Premium Analytics, you can customize and create your own dashboards to visualize data however you want.

In this article:

Accessing Analytics

Open the App Drawer and click Analytics.

From this page, select an Analytics report pertaining to the data you want. You can use the search bar if you know the name of the report you're looking for.

Pages and Cards

Data in MJ Analytics is displayed using "cards", and these cards are displayed under "pages". Card types include things like simple numeric displays, charts, tables for reports, geographical maps, filters, and more.

Cards Are Related

Most cards are interactive. Click a part of a card to focus on that particular data. For example, on a bar graph, click a bar to focus on that data point. This filters data on the cards on the same page based on your selection.

Use filter cards to filter all data on all cards, such as limiting to a specific date range.

Card Icons

Icons appear on cards either at all times, when you hover over them with the mouse cursor, or when data is being processed.

Icon

Description

Syncing. When sorting data in a card, give the platform time to process and sort the data before proceeding. For example, sorting Patient IDs in alphanumeric ascending order.

Filtering. When selecting filters, give the platform time to process the filters and update all cards before proceeding. With more complex filter combinations, it can take up to a few minutes for them to apply.

Active Filter. This icon means a filter is active somewhere on the page. Hover the mouse over the icon to see what filters are currently active, and what cards they originate from. You can remove the filter with the button below.

Remove Filter. This button removes any active filters on a card. If there are filters active on multiple cards, you must click this button for each card that has a filter active.

Export. This button allows you to export your data. See Exporting Data below for more details.

Warning. This icon is a card-specific warning about the data that is displayed. Hover the mouse over the icon to read the warning.

Sort By. This button sorts values in numeric ascending order.

Sort By. This button sorts values in numeric descending order.

Sort By. This button sorts data in alphanumeric ascending order.

Sort By. This button sorts data in alphanumeric descending order.

Sort By. This button sorts data in the default order.

Reset Chart View. This button resets a chart to the default view, mainly for Line and Bar Charts, when highlighting multiple categories along either axis.

X-Axis Range. These buttons increase or decrease the range of values populating the x-axis of some Line Charts.

Filter Types and Appendix

The Appendix card is located at the bottom of most Analytics pages, providing a wide variety of filters that are specific to the type of data being presented on each page.

Filter

Description

Select this drop-down menu to choose which facilities you want to populate the Analytics page.

Select this drop-down menu to choose which facility types you want to populate the Analytics page.

Click this button to clear the Facilities and Facility Types drop-down menus above.

Date Selector Card. Use this card to select a date, or range of dates, to filter the Analytics page. Click Presets to change the calendar view, such as Last 7 Days, Last 2 Weeks, etc.

Date Selector Card Presets. Select a button with a specific amount of time that is measured by Days, Weeks, Months, or Years.
Click the button to change the card view back to a calendar.

Checkbox Card. Select the checkboxes next to the values to filter the Analytics page. Click Select all to select all checkboxes. If a lot of values are available in the filter card, page arrows will appear at the bottom of the card for you to navigate through more values.

Search Bar. If a lot of values are available in the filter card, use the filter's search bar to find specific values. Then select the value to filter the Analytics page.

Advanced Filter

The Advanced Filter is available on the Inventory Report (Details) and Tax Report. It allows you to sort data with precision by using various NUMERIC, STRING, or DATETIME filters, such as THC %, Facility Name, or Packaged Date, respectively.

Analytics Refresh Time

Data in MJ Analytics is refreshed every 1 to 2 hours. All your organization's data is sent through a pipeline of data fetching, processing, and analysis, which is then organized and presented in easy-to-read Analytics pages. You can see the time when the data was last refreshed.

Exporting Data

There is an Export button at the top of each Analytics page, which allows you to export data as a PowerPoint or PDF file. Exporting data in this way can take up to a few minutes. Alternatively, you can save a screenshot of the page by pressing Windows + PrintScreen on the keyboard, or for Mac users, by pressing Shift + cmd⌘ + 3.

Note: The error message "Some content is too tall to export" will appear if your data is too large to export properly. A simple workaround for this is to save a screenshot of the page as described above, and then convert that screenshot to a PDF, or save it to a PowerPoint.

You will also see an Export button on each Analytics card when you hover the mouse cursor over it. Click it to export data from a card as a spreadsheet file (.csv).

Chart Types

There are several kinds of charts available in different analytics modules to help you visualize your organization's data.

You can create and customize your own charts if you have Premium Analytics.

Area Chart

An area chart contains Series Data, which are items that share a relation, and each one uses the same Category and Value for measurement. It is essentially multiple charts in one, and the item colors are layered on top of each other in the order they appear in the Series Data list.

  • Category Axis (x-axis): The horizontal axis representing information that is within a group.

  • Value Axis (y-axis): The vertical axis representing the measurement of value for each point on the horizontal axis.

  • Zoom-In: Use the mouse to click and drag the cursor horizontally across the chart. This will highlight a range of values along the Category Axis (x-axis) and re-populate the chart with only the data you selected. This will also filter all analytics cards, showing only data relative to your selection.

  • Series Data: Click a Series Item in the list to clear it from the area chart. This will filter all analytics cards, showing only data for the remaining items that are selected in the list.

  • Color Selection: Click a Color in the area chart to view that series item on the top layer. This will filter all analytics cards, showing only data relative to the color you selected.

  • Bubble Info: Hover the mouse over a Color in the area chart to view a bubble with information specific to that series item. This will temporarily bring that item to the top layer in the area chart.

Bar Chart

  • Category Axis (x-axis): The horizontal axis representing information that is within a group.

  • Value Axis (y-axis): The vertical axis representing the measurement of value for each bar on the horizontal axis.

  • Zoom-In: Use the mouse to click and drag the cursor horizontally across the chart. This will highlight a range of values along the Category Axis (x-axis) and re-populate the chart with only the data you selected. This will also filter all analytics cards, showing only data relative to your selection.

  • Bar Selection: Click a Bar in the chart to filter all analytics cards, showing only data relative to the bar you selected.

  • Bubble Info: Hover the mouse over a Bar to view a bubble with information specific to that category.

Bar Chart: Horizontal

  • Category Axis (y-axis): The vertical axis representing information that is within a group.

  • Value Axis (x-axis): The horizontal axis representing the measurement of value for each bar on the vertical axis.

  • Zoom-In: Use the mouse to click and drag the cursor vertically across the chart. This will highlight a range of values along the Category Axis (y-axis) and re-populate the chart with only the data you selected.

Donut Chart

Donut charts used throughout Analytics may appear differently depending on the data that is populating the chart. This means that some donut charts may have less functionality than other donut charts, and some of the elements listed below won't be visible in the layout.

  • Category: The Data Table column representing information that is within a group.

  • Value: The Data Table column representing the measurement of value for each category wedge on the donut chart.

  • Table Selection: Each category in the Data Table has a Radio Button, and each one is selected by default. Clear a Radio Button to remove that category from the donut. This will filter all analytics cards, showing only data for the remaining categories that are selected in the donut chart.
If a donut chart has only a table available as part of its layout, the table will disappear if you remove two categories. Remove all filters to restore the table.

  • Wedge Selection: Click a Wedge in the donut to filter all analytics cards, showing only data relative to the wedge you selected.

  • Bubble Info: Hover the mouse over a Wedge to view a bubble with information specific to that category.

  • Reference: Information in the Reference section shows the total value of the data being measured in the donut chart. Bubble Info also appears here.

Line Chart

  • Category Axis (x-axis): The horizontal axis representing information that is within a group. Click the + and - buttons to increase or decrease the category range.

  • Symbols: Some line charts have visible circle symbols

    mceclip3.png

that represent Data Points along the Chart Line. These are aesthetic only, and line charts without them have the same functionality.

  • Data Points: Click an Intersection, or Symbol, along the Chart Line to select Data Points. This will filter all analytics cards, showing only data relative to the data point you selected.

  • Bubble Info: Hover the mouse over a Data Point to view a bubble with information specific to that category.

Line + Bar Chart

  • Category Axis (x-axis): The horizontal axis representing information that is within a group.

  • Value Axis (y-axis): The vertical axis representing the measurement of value for each point on the horizontal axis.

  • Zoom-In: Use the mouse to click and drag the cursor horizontally across the chart. This will highlight a range of values along the Category Axis (x-axis) and re-populate the chart with only the data you selected. This will also filter all analytics cards, showing only data relative to your selection.
